Road Trip

Hey eveyone! I'm riding along with my friend Keith Tienken in his truck. I've been in 7 states in 6 days. Ca, Or, Id, Ut, Wy, Ne, Iowa toinght. We are at the worlds biggest truck stop "Iowa 80". I'm having a great time and will have more pictures up soon. This is a picture of the Rocky Mountains from the truck in Idaho. I have more to tell but not much time left to write tonight. We are headed to Ohio and then get another load back to Illionis. Hopfully from there we will go to Alanta, Ga.

Day 5

We spent last night in Payette, Idhao and got up early to drive into Layton, Ut. We spent a lot of time paralleling the rockies. this is one of my favorite pictures of taken today. I'm all moved in to the truck now. I really love being out here and seeing the country. The culture of truck drivers is something I find myself comfortable in. Well I'm off for more adventures.....

Day Three

More waiting around for a dispatch which came around noon. Off we go to pick-up in Idaho and deliver in Ohio. Best part was the drive through the Columbia River Gorge. Beautiful!!! I saw several waterfalls and took some pictures from the truck while we were diving along. However the weather didn't really like us. It rained, hailed, sleeted, and snowed all day. Still I enjoyed the ride. Keith and I talk about me and my problems, how to work on them and over come the pitfalls...... Sometimes it's hard and I've got alot of work to do. I also got my first glance of the rockies (that is that I remember) Hope you enjoy the pictures. The picture above was taken in the Gorge out the window while we were driving by. I love the look with the clouds. The picture below of the bird was taken through the front windshield in the rain while we were waiting for a disbatch. It's funny to see all the birds at the rest stops eating off the grills of the trucks. they are eating all the dead bugs. I guess they enjoy their bugs cooked too....

Today was a lot of hurry up and wait. We got to the delivery site at 8:30am, they didn't tell us that their freezer was down and send us to the new site until 11am, then it took another 1.5hrs to unload us. Then back to Brooks to wait for another dispatch. We didn't get one so we grabed a shower and called a couple of Keith's friends who picked us up for dinner and a movie. We saw Enterprise..... WOW!!! I loved it. More tomorrow..........

First Day!

I got picked up around 10pm last night and we headed for Dunnigan to sleep for the night. It took about 2 hrs to reach Dunnigan. This morning we got up and headed for Willows to stop at "Nancy's" for breakfast and pick somethings up at Walmart. Then on toward Portland, Or. I driven from Sac to Ashland before but usually I was the driver and didn't get to look out the windows too much. The California high desert is kinda bornig but the mountains in Orgon are beautiful! We reached Brooks Or just north of Salem about 9pm. Very long drive. Sleeping at the terminal in Brooks tonight. Most people would not believe how long driving for 11hrs is. If you drive 11hrs you work and are up 12-14 depending on how you do meals. I got a rose from the nice people at Nancy's Cafe for Mother's day, Happy Mothers day to everyone!

Going for a Ride!!

Wow I can't believe that I'm getting the chance to go riding for a month in a big rig. My friend is taking me as a way to get away and think about things. He is picking me up tonight. We are headed for Portland, Or. We'll stop tonight at Dunnigan, Ca to sleep for the night. Good thing the truck has two bunks huh??? I'll let you know how it goes....

Testing

There is a time when we all test the people we love the most. It's not fair and most likely they didn't do anything to deserve it. I sometimes find myself testing those I love at the times I least trust myself. It's like I'm looking for a reason not to trust those I love and have close. When I test people I leave them with no way to win. And I then ask more than they can or should do. I've found that it's part and parcel of my depression and negative self talk. "If I'm not good enough for them and I can prove it then I'm right about my self worth." When I look at my life from that view I realize how many good and real great people I've pushed away. I think I've done that again with someone I don't really want to loose. He is a very important part of who I how I am and I care very deeply for him. He asked me to trust him and I have for years, but when he recently asked I kinda unloaded on him. Then I expected more then he can give back. It's not that he can't give it back, it's more that what he writes only barely touches the depths of his emotions. If we could have talked on the phone or even better in person where his eyes say as much as his voice things would have come out much more differently. I know this yet I held him to a much higher standard then he deserved. What we were talking about was difficult under the best of circumstances but I put impossible terms out there. I wanted more knowing he was giving his all and more!! Did this hurt the friendship.... since he isn't talking with me I think so. But who is at fault??? Me yet I don't know how to fix it other than to to say I'm sorry and ask for another chance. I'm not sure I deserve it and I know I've said Way too much but hopefully he will find his way to take the time to read this post and accept that I too make horrible mistakes and get scared and push everyone away in my own way. If he does I hope he remembers that I do love him and would never hurt him on purpose as I know that of him. You know who you are and have all my love and hugs forever...................... miss You.......... I'm sorry! -Babe

Your Promise

I know you will keep your promise. Now I want to make sure you keep the other one. The one about if you need me for ANY reason you find me. It's okay to call if you are having a bad day. I will not hold you to a commitment of any time.

I am doing OK. I do miss you but I'm really okay. However if you are NOT doing okay or better then we have a problem. I really need you to be doing good. If you did this as some idea to help me you ARE wrong. I can handle this just fine as long as you are okay. If you are hurting or miss me and need me for ANY reason, call!!! I'll be there for you. I really mean I can do this. I can be there for you for as short as a moment or as long as it takes!!! Just talk to me, at least say something when you call.

Thank you for remembering me and helping me on the 29th. It is a most bitter sweet day for me and I'll always have wonderful memories of our time together that day as well as sad memories of losing Dad on that day.

Swallows nest building!

Last picture for today! I enjoyed watching the swallows making nests on the sides of this building as the architecture was Spanish in style it was fitting. You could set in the Spa and watch the birds or the boats sailing by on the lake. Very relaxing!

A picture of me sleeping with the new addition to my family.... He doesn't even have a name yet but wondered into our room while we were in Clear Lake. I asked around and found out that the resort was planning on catching him and a few other cats and taking them to the pound.... I couldn't let that happen so when we packed up he mysteriously ended up in the van with all our stuff. He slept under a seat all the way home and is now sleeping under my bed. Any Ideas for a name???

Clear Lake April 15-17

This is a picture of our room at our Clear Lake resort in Nice, Ca. The picture is taken from our private dock on the lake. My husband and I took my mother up for er Birthday because she and I have a class on the 23rd of April and her birthday is the 24th. We had alot of fun sitting on our patio and knitting watching the boats sail by! next time we go we are taking our kayaks. Looking forward to it!

Gansey update and more

As you can see I have frogged about 4 inches the white gansey sweate. Pulled those pesky needles out and started wrapping it back on the cone!!! The arm holes were going to be about 10.5 inches deep. I'm altering the pattern and I making the arm holes closer to 8.5 inches...
In the mean time I knitted my first doily pictured below. I'm very proud of this as I've always enjoyed Lace and find it very beautiful. It was very easy and I was surprised how fast It went. I even found a mistake in the pattern but worked it out easily enough. Lew DeYoung was helping me with it. When I blocked it his comment was I had done Very good. This is quite a complement.
Now on to more commissioned knitting. I'm knitting a tank top for the local knitting store I teach classes at, Fuzzy Penguin. If you live in the Sacramento, Ca. Area and are interested in taking my bead knitting class I talked about before.I'm teaching it at The Fuzzy Penguin on Sunday May 1st from 12-5pm. My first time knitting lace doilys... Now I think i'm an addictted to it. I've already started another one!!!!

Getting back into things

It was a good thing that I ALWAYS take extra projects when we go out of town. This last weekend when I had to wait for instructions for the rolled neck pullover that I just finished, I got to work on my White gansey knit a-long project. I'm altering the pattern to add an Hourglass motif to the top middle of the sweater. It's for my MIL and she is always cold and hopes to wear it while golfing. I've assured her that with the armhole gussets that she will be able to. I really like knitting in this style. Gansey's are knit in the round until you get to the arm holes and then knit flat for the front and back. They also have saddle shoulders with sleeves knit from the top down.

With all the stitch detail I don't get board knitting this sweater. This is a big plus as I normally knit SOCKS. In fact I've knit over 250 pair in the last 4 years. I love to knit socks but I'm branching out to do these sweaters and then back to socks as all my friends want a pair. That is all my non-knitting friends....

I know that I'm not keeping up very well but my only excuse is that I've been very busy knitting for Classic Elite's Fall Pattern book. I've finished 3 Sweaters. Two were women's size Med and one child's size 4. The yarns were delish and the patterns were fairly easy. The last sweater had just 1 week turn around by the time I got both the pattern and yarn. I enjoyed knitting for them and it made me appreciate tested patterns all the more. Thank you TEST knitters everywhere!!!

Okay, okay! So I'm very late in updating my Blog. First the bead class all three went very well. It was more like 1 main class with 21 people and 2 make-up classes. One with 6 students and one with 3 students, all in all things went great. Second I've decides to teach knitting in my home so keep an eye out for classes, private lessons are already starting. Contact me for prices. Third, I'm now test knitting for Classic Elite and have finished one Sweater and almost finished with the child's size 4 sweater. I'm expecting the yarn for sweater 3 anytime. This has been an experience. I'm enjoying it and look forward to doing more of it. We will see if I'm the kind of knitter they want.
Also Just started teaching at the Fuzzy Penguin at 60th street and 14th ave. I taught a sock class last Saturday March 19 from 10-2:30 and then left for Destination Art. Wow what a busy weekend. I'll be teaching another sock Class there April 9th and an intermediate class in Roseville through the parks and Rec. April 15, 22, 29th from 6:30-8:30 pm.
I the middle of all this Lew Deyoung worked with me on Lace knitting and I think I'm hooked ( or should it be needled?) anyway I really like it and Plan to knit a Shetland Shawl even though I'll be picking up 960 Sts. And Working from the Edging toward the center.
Okay I'll up load some pic's and try to keep up. I've been seen KIP at Meet-up Roseville and Sacramento,as well as Rocklin and the Sacramento Stitch 'n Bitch group and of coarse KOTRT and The Knitting Guild Events.... See out there!

Well in addition to taking a class from Vivian and going to Stitches West I've been teaching a beginning knitting class in Roseville with Terry. It has been so very much fun! The students have been friendly and curious as well as eager to learn! I hope to continue to teach there as well as teach in other venues. I'm teaching a bead knitting workshop tomorrow so I've spent the last 2 weeks getting ready for that. Stringing beads and designing the pattern. Knitting samples and getting things together. It's a lot of work but I love it. Doing all this while on a Sock knit a long and a gansey as well as hubby asking for his sweater to be done by mid-May so he can ware it on vacation. Knit, knit, knit!!!!!! Click, click,click..... I'll post about the class soon....

Stiches West 2005

Talk about being busy! The weekend after Hoxbro's class was Stitches West. Mana from the Gods!!!! Yarn Yarn yarn, fiber, designs, supplies, ect......People!!!!! My husband, mother, myself and two great friends (Terry and Jessica, her sister Samantha would have join us too if not for that pesky Gal bladder) Talk about shop tell you drop! my check book didn't fine UNTIL we got to the Philosopher's Wool booth, well 2 kits, a new and a crying check book later we were off again. Thanks to the rolling suitcase we could still walk. Mom bought anew shawl kit too. Then over to Yarn Barn to get the Bumblebee kit for myself. Next stop the door.... Oops Tess Yarn is between me and the door.With all kinds of hand dyed yarns.... Check book is now sobbing but this year I bought more yarn that my hubby. Also picked up some lace wt. Silk/Camel and some Zepher lace wt. too . Now to drive my friends who attened the whole 4 days of stitches home. Thanks Sandi and Jill for all the info about what you learned and how much fun you had!!

Wow I'm late posting this! Vivian Hoxbro class was a blast. After driving down to fresno after work on Friday and getting lost on the way Sandi and I found ourselves in A very posh hotel for a awesome rate (thanks Fran!). We met up with friends and settled in for the night. The next morning bright and early we head for Class. We were greeted be the smiling faces of the Sheeper Than Therapy knitting guild in Fresno, Ca. What a great start to our day and it kept getting better. There were goodie bags and we ate all day long. As for the class I don't think I've ever enjoyed one this much. Vivian was wonderful, helpful and encouraging. Even with the language barrier. Wow what a day. Six hours of Shadow knitting and trying on Vivian's designs and we were headed home !!!! That was a great day.
